Welcome to F:E:D -[fresh electronic delivery]
Say hello to issue eight. A couple steps closer to moving this out of
beta form. Once the site backs up this list I think you will all find it to
be a great design and interface related resource
.

Geek Rescue

Fun animated mouse character shows up on every section with a new
routine pertaining to the topic at hand.

Tokion

Fresh layout using triangular shapes with some funky motion rollovers in
the sub sections. Funky photos throughout the clicks.

Triple 5 Soul

Has an interesting approach and experimental feel in the layout and
motion design.

Nice colaboration project coming out of 2advanced, Loop Labs and
PlatinumLoops. If you sign up you can mix with their online app.

Mercedes-Benz SL 5oo

An all around high-end site with the best 360 car demo (go to the Silver
Screen section) I've seen to date. Implemented in shockwave director
this overview includes rotation, opening and turning on of just about
everything on the car (playing the actual sound effects along with the
action). They also have the interior spin as well. Solid.

Very well built site with a smart use of the high quality toggle feature
in Flash (the parameter that controls the aliasing of the vector elements
within the Flash player). The problem with using the high quality toggle
is that all elements within the player (load movies included) become low
quality and jaggy looking -which gives you great performance- but the
drawback is that your logo and textual data is usually in vector and gets
snarfed up in the process. This layout avoids the overall crunch by
implementing their interface shell in raster imagery (raster images or
graphics are not affected by the toggle because they are not vector base
elements). Smart move. To be sure the CPU can handle performance while
the screen scrolls they also turn off the visibility of all secondary movies
playing within the main interface. If you couldn't tell by now, I've played
with this making this feature work more than once. Big credits to their
team for pulling it off elegantly.
